Alameda del Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins
Alameda del Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins is the main road of Santiago de Chile, with 10 kilometers long (6.2 miles). Many important buildings can be found traveling through it, such as the Palacio de la Moneda, the Barrio Cívico (Civic Neighborhood) and the University of Chile. On the Northern side of the Avenue you will find the most crowded pedestrian street and the Paseo Ahumada shopping centre. You can also find the Casa Central de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the Santiago de Chile University, the San Francisco Church, the Barrio Brasil and República Palaces, the Central Railway Station and the Diego Portales Building, seat for the government between 1973 and 1981 after the bombing of La Moneda.
