Thermal Baths and Spas
Budapest keeps a great tradition as regards thermal baths and spas. Specifically, the list includes the Turkish baths built in the 16th century and the therapeutic baths of Széchenyi, Gellért, Lukács, Rácfürdő and Király. The latter was built in 1565 by the Pasha of Buda on similar facilities dating back to the Roman period. The Lukács bath dates back to the 19th century, although a part thereof is previous. It is wise to say that the Széchenyi bath is one of the biggest baths of Europe. Its hot springs were discovered in 1879 and it is the deepest and hottest spring of Budapest. The neo-baroque structure of the building dates back to 1913.
