Stephansdom (Cathedral of St. Stephen) This is located in the center of Vienna and is devoted to St. Stephen. It is, in many ways, the
soul of the city. In fact, many members of the Habsburg dynasty, who ruled Austria for many
centuries, are buried there. The front is the only part that maintains the original Romanesque
style. The rest of the building, in Gothic style, dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries.
The vaults of the Stephansdom guard a real artistic treasure of Gothic sculptures and various
ornaments. What also stands out is the Wiener Neustädter altar, with 72 polychrome images of
saints. The grave of Frederic III is a Renaissance work in itself.
