Portray of the Destination
The Spanish captain Alonso de Mendoza founded this city under the name Nuestra Señora de la Paz
(Our Lady of Peace). The Bolivian capital is located 3,600 m high, at the foot of the "Nevado
Illimani", the city guardian and sacred mountain.
In this picturesque metropolis, modern buildings harmoniously merge with colonial
and aboriginal architecture styles. Narrow streets surrounded by beautiful colonial
houses lead to the wide avenues of the bustling city.
The historical center is located in the heart of the city, where you can discover the
architectonic styles from the colonial and republican times. The Plaza Murillo -the main square in
the city-, the Paseo del Prado or the "Mercado de Brujas (market) are places where sightseeing
becomes a pleasure. The colonial past is reflected in particular buildings such as the San
Francisco Church, the San Sebastián Church, the Cathedral or the Government Palace.

snow-capped mountains, valleys, and lagoons where you will be able to discover a great diversity
