The majestic city of a Roman emperor

Portray of the Destination
Split is the capital city of Central Dalmatia and of the entire Adriatic Coast, and is also important tourist centre thanks to its wonderful climate. The city was born thanks to the Roman emperor Diocletian, who decided to build his palace on this location, a strategic location surrounded by an island archipelago in the south and a mountain range in the north. It was here where he spent the rest of his days, guarded by his army of aspalatos in the bay.

Central Dalmatia as a whole is rich in history and culture. The villages and cities in the region are Pacific by nature but by night the atmosphere is more Mediterranean, since the streets come alive with nighttime fun and joy. The region is worth noting for its stoned buildings, since it has been the home of many talented artists throughout the times, who provided their towns with their wonderful creations. Local architectural treasures made of stone, marble and wood are not limited to churches and museums, but also include houses, façades and old town centres.

Split enchants tourists with its wealth of narrow streets and splendid stone palaces, as well as its Roman heritage and stunning port. It is a city that amazes the world with its famous sports personalities, songs and beautiful women, who are famed for being the most beautiful in the world.
