Portray of the Destination
Located in the Northern Alpine Foreland, Munich is the third largest city in Germany. Its rich
history officially began upon its foundation, on July 14, 1158 by Henry the Lion. Munich played a
major role throughout the entire Bavarian period since it served as capital city. In those times,
most churches and fairytale palaces were built and music and arts flourished.
Like many European cities, Munich had to face the consequences of two World Wars during the 20th
C. It was completely rebuilt according to a conservative plan, thus regaining its past charm.
Nowadays, this city offers a balanced combination of modern architecture and ancient buildings.
You can walk around the majestic gardens and parks as well as visit endless museums and historical
sites.
