Portray of the Destination
Saly, situated 8 km north of M'bour, is a young city founded by fishermen in the 1980s who went by
the name of Saly. With its many bars, shops, restaurants and activities, Saly has great potential
with the tourism sector, and is gradually becoming a popular destination among European expats. Its
position on the Bay of Senegal protects it from the fierce African winds, and the temperature of
the sea never drops below 20°C.
The spa city of West Africa, it is the preferred destination among 70% of tourists arriving
in Senegal. Along with Nianing, Saly is the destination that attracts the greatest number of
tourists. Although a little off the beaten track, there is a great deal to see and do, and you will
meet some of the friendliest people around.
As well as its beaches, Saly offers visitors many opportunities to discover the real Africa.
Traditional craft shops and gifts are plentiful, and you can even have a go at riding a pirogue, a
